snowpocalypse

Atlanta has had some strange weather recently…two separate snow/ice storms in two weeks, followed by an earthquake (though I didn't feel it). We've missed 6 days of school so far this semester, and I wouldn't be surprised if the weird weather continued. It's only mid-Feburary, after all.
The "snowpocalpyse(s)" made for pretty-ish pictures and some generally relaxing days off. I've watched a ton of "New Girl" on Netflix, and have been working a good bit. I'm really liking my new job as a server at Six Feet Under––some coworkers and I went sledding on serving trays in Grant Park after my Wednesday night shift which was so much fun! Here's to the two tests, two papers and countless online Spanish homework assignments due on Monday, as well as the newspaper. And to the weather forecast of 70 degrees for next weekend. Work hard/play hard.

stories

"Isn't it weird to think that every person you walk by has a past that they may or may not be proud of, a family they may be close to or far from, a lover they're either with or apart from and a name and a personality and they might be having the greatest day of their life or the worst day? We walk past hundreds of people every day and never once stop to think about what they’re going through or what their life might be like. We're too focused on our own." -anonymous

The days leading up to Christmas 2012 were spent in this fairytale land, also known as Aruba. My family and I got some r&r 20 miles off the coast of Venezuela to celebrate my mom turning 50! We had lots of delicious sea food––one night we dined at a restaurant that served their food at tables on the beach. Our toes were in the sand. Another night we had ribs at Smokey Joe's…mmm. We stayed in the Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino where I lost a little cash but had fun with Roulette and Blackjack. My favorite part of the trip was probably windsurfing with my dad and brother for a couple hours (first part lesson, second part free-for-all). The sun burned me bad enough that I peeled for 2+ weeks after the short/sweet four-day vacation, but it was worth it to lay out in the sunshine and forget about the cold that awaited us back in Georgia. I can't wait to return someday soon. One happy island, indeed!
