thoughts before bed

just got back to the hotel from my cousin's beautiful wedding! it was such a fun night (and weekend altogether)--i'm kicking myself for not bringing my usb cord to start working on photos. tomorrow right after the 9 hour drive i will get to it. maybe.
---
on a separate note, flip to page 27. text and photography by yours truly! this was such a fun editorial and i'm really pleased with how it turned out.

i'm currently musing over different study abroad programs to london--i'm really interested in a program at goldsmiths college as well as a photography program at london college of fashion. i originally wanted to go to oxford, but none of the classes offered through UGA would really help me (macroeconomics, international law, 18th-century british novel, etc. um...ok). does anyone know how much better it looks on a resume to have studied at oxford as opposed to another school? or any general information about colleges or universities in the london area?

hope everyone's having a great weekend.

sam

My best friend! She's in Europe for the summer so I'm missing my partner in crime. She's my go-to model because she's beautiful but also because she lives up the street and doesn't mind my craziness.

babies and blue eyes

babies. and kiddos. forever my favorite subjects. i did these in october, but i'm reminiscing on how much i miss doing these shoots! need to book something soon. serious question: why do babies always seem to have blue eyes? bright blue eyes at that. maybe it's just all of the kids i've ever encountered, but they always seem to have the bluest eyes. these pretty people are mama bri and brantley, mama elizabeth and will, and mama megan and little sister faith/big sister mila.

hilton head island

just got home from hilton head today. i got a sore throat from the mono, aka a sore throat from hell, but by the last day i felt completely better. i guess a week of sleep and relaxation was exactly what i needed. wish i could have done a few shoots on the beach with all of the dresses and props i brought, but oh well. now that i'm feeling better i can do them somewhere around home instead. altogether it was a wonderful week of sunshine (with some rain...), moon-gazing, family time, and reading magazines/my current book Defending Jacob.

jordan and the schoolhouse

My friend Jordan from school met me for lunch and photos a few weeks ago. I took her to an abandoned schoolhouse that's been standing since the 30's or 40's. It's a little sketchy, but I love the rustic atmosphere. So much character. I especially love it when the subject is wearing something semi-dressy...the contrast is perfect. I flip through Anthropologie and Free People catalogues for inspiration with these kinds of shoots.

gibbs gardens

I'm not going to backtrack too much, this was just in May. My grandparents took me to a place called Gibbs Gardens. The man who landscaped this property took 30 years to design it and make it look how he wanted before opening it up to the public. Located in Ball Ground, Georgia, this beautiful place has me wondering what else I look at that could have taken 30 years of someone's life to pull together. Every car driving down the highway, every tree planted in the backyard and every abandoned house on the side of the road has a story. And I wish I could know every single one of them.
